I love to garden.  Somedays I'll spend hours upon hours digging in the dirt.  I can't help myself in the garden section at stores and sometimes, like this weekend, I get a little carried away.

My name is Leslie, and I'm a plant junkie....

We bought a bunch of annual flowers, along with some hostas, ferns and bushes, sod for missing patches in the front yard, a ton of mulch and three trees.

Robert thought the trees were cool, until he started digging the holes.  Then the trees were stupid and they suck!

We spent the entire weekend getting all of this stuff in the ground. It was a lot of work and we are both sore and tired, but out front yard looks great!

Joplin, Family & Baseball

Robert and I went to Kansas City this past weekend so that he could meet some more of my family.  He met my dad, step-mom, two grammas, my oldest brother and his three kids.

On our way up there we stopped in Joplin for a day to volunteer with the tornado clean up.  Joplin, as a city, was almost completely leveled.  I've never seen anything like it.  There was miles and miles of crumpled buildings and debris, as far as we could see in any direction.

The whole situation of Joplin was just tragic.  I can't wrap my mind around how they are going to get the city cleaned up and back to normal.  Our hearts go out to them.  We were only able to give a day of time to the clean up effort, but every little bit helps!  The outpouring of supplies and support that we witnessed was incredible.  I love how people come together when they need to.

After we left Joplin, we drove the rest of the way to Kansas City and on Saturday we went to see both of my nephews play their baseball games.

I'm always amazed at how big these kids are getting.  I remember when they were so tiny and now they are swinging bats like the big-dogs they are.

Both boys played very well!  I was impressed! We had a really great time seeing everyone.  The family enjoyed Robert and he enjoyed them!  Though these trips are never long enough...
