Yesterday was Robert's birthday and I meant to do a birthday post for him on the actual day, but I failed to do that. Robert, the lucky guy, has been enjoying his main birthday present since the beginning of March.
Robert had been needing a truck, because of the line of work he is in. We had talked about looking for one for a while. Then we found out that we were expecting a baby and Robert's dreams of a truck vanished.
I told him time and again that we could still find something affordable for him, but he wouldn't consider it with a baby on the way.
So I started truck shopping with hopes of finding the perfect truck for his birthday. I enlisted the help of his best friend, Adam, his little brother, Tyler, and our friend Ricky and the four of us looked for a good truck.
I had found a silver Dodge Ram 4x4 that had low miles and was clean and reasonably priced and I was planning on signing the paperwork for it the next day.
Then Tyler called me and said that there was a truck being traded in that I needed to come look at right away, so I went to the Cadillac dealership to check it out.
It was PERFECT!!
The doctor that owned the truck was still there in the dealership signing the papers on his new Cadillac, so we went out back to look at the truck. He had kept it in immaculate condition. It was so clean that you could eat off the wheel wells.
It's a GMC Sierra 2500 HD Duramax Diesel 4x4 with leather interior, seat warmers, steering wheel warmer, sprayed on bed liner, toolbox, fuzz buster, on-star, xm radio...everything and more that Robert could possibly want in a truck.
I knew this was the perfect truck and drove it home at lunch that day.
Robert and Adam were in the back yard working on the dog house and I went back there and told Robert I had an early birthday surprise for him.
His jaw dropped to the floor when he saw the truck and his mouth stayed open for the next hour or so. The look on his face was priceless!
We traded in his Subaru and I signed the paperwork (I had gotten pre-qualified to make it quick) and the next day the truck was his!
Robert, being a typical guy, went out and got the truck stuck in the mud the next day.
He and Adam had to walk 3 miles back to our house to get Adam's truck to pull it out. I was so glad I wasn't in that truck with them, because I would have been pissed off! LOL! But it was ok hearing about it after the fact because I knew it turned out fine.
Since Robert's big birthday present came way early, I did end up getting him some smaller stuff on the actual day, along with an ice cream cake (NOT a cookie cake) and we had friends over for dinner that night.
Happy Birthday, Robert!!
